About Me

Glad to meet each and everyone of you that make a visit to my site. The reason I made a website is  to share what I like to do most, and that is writing.  I’m hoping my website and blog will help promote the two books that I have written that are now on the market. If you like Christian fiction and mysteries check it out on Amazon where you can purchase either the ebooks or the paperbacks. You can also purchase a signed paperback of either book from me at a lower cost than on Amazon.  I do charge  $3.50 for S/H.  You can email me at delilalumbardy@gmail.com.

Now – a little about me. I grew up on a cattle ranch in the Sandhills of Nebraska – the largest sand dune in the world. It is world famous for the beef cattle that are raised on the luscious, native grasses of those meadows and hills. The Calamus River meaders lazily through the meadows of the ranch. Any time I had time to kill, I walked to the river; a cane pole in one hand and a Big Chief tablet in the other. I penned many a masterpiece while waiting for those fish to bite. Masterpieces like “The Autobiography of DeLila Smith – From Birth to Ten Years Old” and “The Daily Adventures of a Fifth Grader.” My parents wisely steered me into a career of nursing. (They had read some of those masterpieces.) But between changing bandages, taking temperatures, and starting IV’s, I never lost my passion for writing. Somehow, during my nursing career, I still managed to collect a binder full of published articles. And now, that I have placed my nursing cap on the shelf after 40 plus years of caregiving, I am picking up my pen…or more realistically…my computer, and tapping keys. The first book, BOUND BY SECRECY, is set on the banks of the Sumalac (Calamus, spelled backwards) River in the Sandhills of Nebraska. The second book (a sequel), BOUND BY THREE STRANDS, is set mostly in the small Sandhills town of Hooper, but revisits the ranch on the Sumalac River as well.

I love the outdoors all though I’m a bit of a fair weather nature enthusiast. Wildlife of any sort catches my eye and I’ll attempt to get a photo of just about any creature.  Pleasant weather always beckons me outside, but I’m an avid reader on increment days. And then there’s Pickleball that I play outdoors when weather permits or indoors when it doesn’t. I am blessed that I am able to do all these activities in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota were I reside.
